Attention all Tech Students and Parents/Guardians,
Vaccinating Alabama Kids in Schools or VAKS, LLC, is owned by Huntsville Pediatric Associates, a local pediatric practice comprised of eight pediatricians. The physicians of VAKS desire to promote the health of Alabama’s children by providing influenza vaccines on site in area schools, making it more convenient for parents and potentially protecting more children against flu infection.
A healthcare team from VAKS. LLC, will be at the Madison County Career Technical Center on Monday September 18, 2017 at 9:00 AM to administer flu vaccine to students who bring in a completed and signed vaccine consent form. Participation in this school-based flu vaccine clinic is strictly voluntary. This year they will only be administering the flu shot. There will be NO FLU MIST available.
Flu vaccine consent forms are attached. If you are interested in your child receiving his/her flu vaccine during the clinic at school, please complete and return the consent form on September 18, 2017 at time of vaccine. Unfortunately, students who are children of education employees and covered by PEEHIP insurance are not eligible to participate in the VAKS sponsored clinics. PEEHIP dependent students are eligible to participate in the PEEHIP-sponsored Employee Wellness Screening/ Flu Vaccine clinics scheduled to be conducted on site in our schools .
This will be for morning Tech students only. Afternoon Tech students may get their flu vaccines at their home school on the scheduled day.
If you have additional questions about the flu vaccine, please refer to the information included on the Madison County Schools Health Services webpage or contact your child’s health care provider.
